In recognition of its founding members, Georgian Triangle Lifelong Learning Institute presents as its 2011 guest speaker, Paul Heinbecker, a distinguished Canadian who has served his country for over forty years at many international summits and postings. He lead the Canadian delegation to Kyoto for Climate Change negotiations.
As a diplomat and delegate, he has acted as valued and trusted advisor to Prime Ministers and Government Ministers. He has been involved both in military decisions in Kosovo and Iraq, and in environmental dialogues concerning the protection of our forests and fisheries.
As an author and admired contributor to the print media, he brings his years of experience at the epicenter of Canadian foreign policy. For this lecture he plans to share his thoughts on what has gone before, to analyze what is now current, and to share in the debate as to how Canada should move forward.
Paul Heinbecker is presently Director of the Wilfrid Laurier University Centre for Global Relations and a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Waterloo.
