The GTLLI (in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada) offers lecture courses on a diverse range of topics. Our intention is to stimulate the mind, intellect and soul of our members. Learning, understanding and becoming more aware of the world at large, of our communities and of ourselves is the primary goal of the Georgian Triangle Lifelong Learning Institute.

ABOUT US

The GTLLI is a self-funded not-for-profit organization.  It is managed by an all volunteer Board of Directors (elected as outlined in our constitution).

Guided Tour of Scenic Caves of Blue MountainThe GTLLI was founded in 1995.  Some of our Founding Members had attended Lifelong learning courses at Glendon College (York University, Toronto).  We relied on that organization to help us get started organizationally.  They also provided our first group of lecturers.  Eventually we branched out, using lecturers from other universities in the vicinity.  Fortunately there seemed to be an abundance of high-quality people willing to teach a 2 hour lecture for a reasonable fee - a practice that continues to this day.

We have no restrictions on our membership, however we do emphasize courses that would appeal particularly to the more mature crowd.  We are not a social club, nor do we engage in activities that would be considered either activist, political or entertainment.  The GTLLI's mandate is to provide a unique learning experience for its members.  Our aim is to fill an intellectual vacuum in the area, not to duplicate what another group is already doing nor pursue any activity which one can find elsewhere in the region.
